Maureen’s Story Maureen Lowis was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer in December of 2003. Along with their 3 children, (Sara, Meghan and Matthew), Maureen and her husband, Terrence, managed to face this disease and to live their lives as the happy, loving, fun-filled family they always were. Treatment and surgery gave them many months of remission and the gift of many good times with family and friends. In October of 2004, an MRI revealed a new tumor. Maureen faced that news with her usual, prayerful composure and determination. This time her fight took her down many different paths of treatment and although, Maureen (at age 34) lost her struggle on March 25th, 2005 (Good Friday), she continues to inspire all those who came to know her. During her battle with this disease, Maureen sought out a number of alternative treatments. Many of these treatments are not covered by insurance. Thanks to the generosity of family and friends, an account was established in Maureen's name to help defray these costs. Along her brave journey she discovered that she was not alone in having this type of cancer and she mentioned to Terrence and family members that she would like to also help others who may have similar circumstances. As a living memorial to Maureen and to fulfill her wish to help others, Mission4Maureen was created.
The Lowis Family. Sara (now 10) Terrence, Matthew (now 6), Meghan (now 8) and Maureen.
